Intro Class - the in person classes explained
Congratulations on your pregnancy, and thank you for enrolling in All You Need is Love Antenatal Classes.
In person Classes: when and where: Classes run 6.30-8.30pm, at Johnsonville Uniting Church, 18 Dr Taylor Terrace. Your first session will be: Wednesday 10 July 2024.
Class Facilitators: Rachel Dudfield & Dana Gilbert
Intro session: We run a 6 week course that starts with this bonus, online intro session. You must watch all the lessons before you come to your first in person class. I know you’re tempted to wait until the night before class starts. It has information about staying healthy in pregnancy, pregnancy warning signs, and what to buy for baby. To hopefully avoid overspending.
Inclusion: We want our classes to be as inclusive as possible so please let us know if there is anything we can do to make you feel comfortable and safe. The classes use gender neutral pronouns and refers to the birthing parent and the support person.
WhatsApp: Please join this WhatsApp Group. We use it to keep in touch, see baby photos, and share resources: WhatsApp GROUP LINK
Important questions.
We have a supper break for snacks & mingling each night.
Do you have any allergies, food preferences? We ask for volunteers to bring supper each week: Rachel & Dana bring it night one
Are you okay if people bring beer for supper?
After our first in person session the after-class emails will not be BCC’d.
Can we share your email address with the other parents to be? Please tell us if this is not okay
Activities: listening, videos, brainstorming, hands on practical, optional further reading homework Lots of sitting: please make yourself comfortable: wear comfy clothes, bring a water bottle. If your back or hips are sore, please see the suggestions in the online intro session, and below.
Missing class: please stay away if you’re sick!
Sometimes you have to miss class. I understand this. Baby moons/ holidays and sickness happens! Please watch the video and read my follow up email and hit me up with as many questions as you need to understand what you’ve missed. We can meet in person if you buy me coffee and cake.
If you’re unwell it’s up to you if you attend class: I trust that no one will attend if they’re extremely unwell, or have been exposed to COVID. You can wear masks in class, we do our best to socially distance in class. If only one of you is sick the other can attend and then chat to you about it afterwards.
Choices: with parenting and with classes you can choose how involved you want to be.
• There’s lots of homework and further learning if you choose to do it. At the least please talk to your support people about what you are learning.
• Night One (Your first in person class) will cover Natural birth. You can be as proactive or reactive as you like. You can wait until labour and see how it goes, or you can stretch and exercise. It’s up to you. Please let us know if you are phobic about anything. Class will mention blood, vomit, pooping, needles, hospitals.
Homework: It's not a competition, but....
• Ask a recent/ new parent one helpful tip about birth
• Bonus Level: go to Spinning Babies find the daily activities
