10am-12pm Thursdays until 25 June

From this date, the service will no longer be available at the current venue. We will provide an update as soon as we are able. In the meantime, we encourage whānau to seek alternative breastfeeding support if needed.

Johnsonville Uniting Church, 18 Dr Taylor Tce, Johnsonville.

There is parking on site, and this venue is a short walk from the train station and Moorefield Road bus stop.

The support is offered in a group setting. Partners are welcome to attend.

You can also access support from the below community support groups, by booking an online session with Plunketline, or by paying to hire a private Lactation Consultant.

Text section

People are welcome to attend for lots of reasons. Perhaps you are pregnant and want to learn about breastfeeding. Maybe you are learning to feed your baby and not enjoying it. Maybe it hurts, or you are trying to increase your milk supply.

If your baby is around 6 months old you might be starting to offer solid food and want to know how to do this safely. Maybe you are returning to work and want to know how feeding your baby might look.

Breastfeeding is natural but it’s not always easy to get established. Global Health Media have created a series of breastfeeding videos that are available in 32 different languages. These can help with painful feeding, increasing milk supply, and knowing if your baby is getting enough.

There are two New Zealand made apps to support breastfeeding. They both help with explaining what is normal, and Breastfed NZ has information about managing challenges.

If you or your support people would like to get a head start on this then please consider downloading one of these free breastfeeding apps: Mama Aroha or BreastfedNZ

As a Lactation Consultant Rachel Dudfield saw a need for accessible support for Wellington’s new parents. Rachel’s Baby Feeding Drop-In is now funded by Tū Ora Compass Health.
